(K'JIPUKTUK) HALIFAX - Close to 500 people marched on Province House today to send a message to politicians and polluters.
Enough talk. Act on climate change now.
Young and old, from all around Nova Scotia, from New Brunswick and from PEI, people came to have their voices heard.
“It's time to stand up for the planet. We have to change our whole economic system to make the continuation of life on our planet a possibility. We have to stop burning fossil fuels in the very short term,” Roy Ries of the New Brunswick Anti-Shale Gas Alliance told the Halifax Media Co-op.
The Halifax rally was one of 70 or so People's Climate Marches in Canada. An estimated 2800 similar events occurred in North America, Europe and elsewhere.
The march started on Citadel Hill and wound its way to Province House.
