Did you know that Dalhousie's President just went to Israel as part of Prime Minister Harper's delegation? Did you know that two years ago, King's College Administrators travelled to Israel to promote partnership with Israeli Universities? There are questions being raised about our University's involvement with Israel, and information about the ongoing Israeli occupation of Palestine is more important than ever on our campuses.

This Friday we’ll be hearing from two speakers who will shed light on the ongoing occupation of Palestine and what we can do as students to work towards a just peace in the Middle East.

The first speaker, Dr. Ismail Zayid, once lived in the village of Beit Nuba but was forced out along with the other residents when it was destroyed by the Israeli military in 1967. Since that time, money donated by Canadians to the Jewish National Fund has built a park on the ruins of Dr. Zayid’s village. Dr. Zayid continues to raise awareness for this story and on the Palestinian plight. He lives in Halifax.

The second speaker, John Hutton is an international development studies student and has unique insight into Dalhousie’s ongoing relationship with Israel and the exploitation of this relationship for the purposes of producing better public relations for Israel.

Refreshments will be served at the event and, given that this event takes place on a Friday, beer and chatting afterwards is highly encouraged!
