Trans* Community Forum on SRS Implementation and Trans* Health Care

10:00am
- 3:00pm
Saturday January 25 2014

Venue: Dalhousie Student Union Building, room 303
Address: 6136 University Avenue

» More information

NSRAP is holding a community consultation to inquire into issues concerning the local trans* community. This is an opportunity for the community to voice their ideas and concerns in a forum that will ultimately be communicated to the Department of Health as community recommendations. We want the community to have an impact on policy development and implementation of the funding commitment for SRS made by the previous provincial government, and reaffirmed by the current. NSRAP wants to see policies and processes implemented that will result in the best possible healthcare for the trans* community and are looking for input from the community to ensure that the needs of the community are met, and that these needs are reflected in the advocacy work done by NSRAP. Please come and be a part of the discussion!

Schedule:

10am-12pm: Information session and question panel
- There will be a series of brief presentations to provide a context for our later discussion. We will address where we are currently with a variety of trans* issues, and what we have accomplished so far.

12pm-1pm: Lunch break
- A meal will be provided (please contact us with any dietary restrictions)

1pm-3pm: Community Forum
- A discussion to gather the opinions and concerns of the trans* community. A place to set goals.

This event is open to all ages.

This event will be held in a physically accessible space (there is an elevator), with gender neutral washrooms in the building.

There is all day parking available (as it is a weekend) on the streets immediately around the SUB, on University St., South St., Seymore St. and Lemarchant St.

We are also conscious that the cost of travel may be a barrier to attendance. We are able to assist with travel costs, please contact us at nsrap@nsrap.ca for more detail.
