Nocturne

by Justin Ling

"It's the one time of year that a lot of people experience visual art in...Halifax."

Michael McCormack, standing beside the tuxedo-clad, projector-headed art installation at the Eyelevel Gallery, raised his voice to be heard over the various howls and grindings of the art around him. From a mitten-spinning, snow-blowing machine to the motor-powered porcelain tactile board, the Eyelevel was just one stop on the artistic marathon that was the 3rd annual Nocturne.

Art, be it hanging on a wall or limping around Granville Mall as a three-legged amorphous blob, took over downtown on Saturday. No doubt the largest art festival in Halifax, the Nocturne was created to give an organized platform to prospective and established artists around the city.
