On May 24, 2010, Nova Scotia Native Women's Association (NSNWA) organized a Water Walk in Point Pleasant Park as part of a larger cross-country movement to bring awareness toward the importance of clean water and the threat to health and environment brought on by pollution. This year's walk was organized in solidarity with the First Nation community of Pictou Landing who face serious hazards due to industrial waste polluting their water resources. The Pictou Landing community has threatened to move into Point Pleasant Park if governments don't act to clean up the mess.
