New research shows Nova Scotian farmers' markets feeding our economy

May 20, 2014 (Halifax, N.S.) – Government officials, tourism experts, agricultural producers, health
professionals, members of the business community, and local food advocates will gather in
downtown Halifax this Thursday morning.
This diverse group of Nova Scotians are coming together to hear the results of a province-wide farmers' markets economic impact study, the first of its kind in ten years.

What: A celebratory event for our partners and community marking the release of the 2013 Nova
Scotia Farmers' Market Economic Impact Study.
When: Thursday, May 22nd, 9:30AM - Noon
Where: Upper Courtyard of the Brewery Building, home of the Historic Farmers’ Market, at 1496 Lower Water Street in Halifax.
Who: Hosted by Farmers' Markets of Nova Scotia with guest speakers Mayor Pam Mood, Town of
Yarmouth; Alan Stewart, Stewart’s Organic Farm; RenĂ©e Lavallee, Feisty Chef; and Gordon Stevens,
The Uncommon Group.
Speakers, as well as special guests Patricia Bishop (Taproot Farms), Ted Hutten (Hutten Family
Farm) and Andrew Bishop (Noggins Farm), are available for one-on-one interviews during the
reception following speeches.
