Individuals and communities of all sizes are joining forces province-wide to Clean Across Nova Scotia on April 19 and 20, 2013. Affecting positive change in our environment is no small feat, but at Clean Nova Scotia we believe that the actions of individuals and communities can make all the difference. This is seen through the efforts of five-year-old environmentalist Hunter Arsenault. Hunter has been diligently cleaning up his neighbourhood for two years and followed his passion to try and Adopt-a-Highway this past year. Though he was thirteen years too early to adopt, his drive is as a strong as ever. Hunter has recruited his parents and encourages others in his community to get involved in the cleaning effort. Residing in Pictou County, Hunter is just one of many dedicated citizens working to create a clean and beautiful community. In 2012, 2,449 people who participated in Clean Across Nova Scotia were from Pictou County alone – nearly one third of the total provincial participation! Their commitment and support demonstrates the importance of community contributions, particularly in Nova Scotia, a province built on small communities.
