Music, marching and a message of sustainability.

Budget Awareness Rally at Nova Scotia Legislature

On Tuesday, April 3rd, frustrated but hopeful Haligonians will march to the Nova Scotia Legislature to express their concerns on where their hard-earned tax dollars are being allocated.

The House, which resumed its proceedings on March 29th, will open Tuesday's 2pm assembly with the provincial budget.

The goal of rallying citizens is to raise public awareness of the unsustainable usuage of the provinces natural resources and poor prioritizing by the provincial government. Topics include an estimated $35 billion tax dollars being poured into Nova Scotia's Irving military warship contract in the Haliax harbour. Ralliers feel this money would be better used increasing funding for affordable housing, clean energy technologies, expanding public transportation, upgrading wastewater treatment systems, running organic farms, restoring polluted rivers, urban farming, mental health and post-secondary education. Other areas of concern will be expressed as many feel injustices are being overshadowed in federal government as well.

The event will include music, chanting, dancing and other artforms in efforts to help humanize, what many feel, has become a cold, dehumanized and dissconnected atmosphere in parliament.

Concerned Nova Scotians are encouraged to take part in this event.
