The Occupy Movement And The Hopi

One Love Everytime

For the last 40 days, there has been a demonstration going on in New York City called Occupy Wall Street. It started off small (around 200) and has grown to 1000s and its offshoots have spread to over 1000 cities in the US and over 80 countries across the globe!

The Occupy Movement is much more than a social and political phenomenon. It is a prophecized worldwide uprising against a centuries-old exploitive financial, political and social system that began in Babylon 5100 years ago and has spread across the planet crushing indigenous cultures everywhere. These older cooperative tribal societies, where everyone was taken care of from cradle to grave and everything needed was free and shared, brought out the best in people. This competitive nation-state system brings out the worst and since it has little wisdom but much technological inventiveness, its technology has brought us to the edge of extinction

Though the Occupy Movement is already having a political, social and financial impact, its roots, perhaps not yet apparent to all the participants, are spiritual. And many prophecies, including Biblical, Hopi, Mayan, and even Rastafarian, have referred to events that are now looking very similar. Let’s look first at the ancient prophecies of the Hopi!

The Hopi, living on their ancestral land near Flagstaff, AZ, are the “Covenant People” – keeping a 900-year old Covenant with the Creator to become the first society to be truly “Hopi,” which means “all people peaceful.” Since 2004, Julia and I have worked closely with their Elders and hosted seven free “One Love Concerts” in Hopiland. I think they are very close to completing their sacred covenant.

During the writing of our book, The Beauty Path: A Native American Journey into One Love, written with the help of Hopi religious leader Radford Quamahongnewa, the “ears, eyes, and tongue” of the spiritual elders of their Mother Village of Shipolovi, we researched and recorded all their main prophecies, of which their are many (pic above with Tibetan Elder Garchen Rinpoche).

The prophecies, carved on stone tablets and including instructions and warnings, said there would come a time of transition from the “Fourth World to the Fifth World,” when Humanity would complete its awakening to its own Divinity and all things would be balanced and pure again. At the end of each of the three prior worlds, human life has been purified by the Great Spirit (“Massauu” ) after going astray due mainly to corruption, greed and turning away from the Great Spirit’s teachings.

During this transition time, each person would choose between the “path of materialism and that of the Creator.” Before this Global Awakening, “the leaders will have turned to evil ways instead of the Great Spirit and we were told there would be many ways this life may be destroyed and the lives of the people everywhere would become so frantic that people would rise up and pinch the ears of their leaders “ (I’d say we’re in some serious ear-pinching time!)

We would know these times because of this great sickness-called greed-would infect every land and country and that simple people would lose what they have kept for thousands of years. People would speak through cobwebs, iron birds would fly, someone would go to the moon and bring things back (1969), children would not obey their parents, etc. And we would know the transition time was near when “the gourd of ashes drops upon the earth making the night glow brighter than the day and will boil everything within a large space and nothing will grow for a very long time.”

When the atom bomb was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6, 1945, the Hopi Elders knew that this was the sign that they should go, according to prophecy, to “the House of Mica on the Eastern Shore and warn the Tribal Leaders.” Mica is the key component in glass (not known 900 years ago) so they journeyed to New York to warn the leaders at the United Nations “House of Mica on the Eastern shore where the leaders meet”). Over a 50 year period (1945-1995) they went to the U.N. four times but spoke to deaf ears.

After the Awakening, Hopi Chief Dan Evehema (see pic below) said in 1999, “The Earth will become new as it was from the beginning, by joining together in a Spiritual Peace with love in our hearts for one another, love in our hearts for the Great Spirit and Mother Earth. Flowers will bloom again, wild games will return to barren lands and there will be abundance of food for all. Those who are saved will share everything equally and they all will recognize Great Spirit and speak one language.

We will all realize our mistakes of the past and return to the true path-living in harmony as brothers and sisters, sharing our mother, the earth with all other living creatures.

In this way we could bring about a new world, a world which would be led by the Great Spirit and our mother will provide plenty and happiness for all.”

More recently, an unnamed Hopi Elder released this statement:

“You have been telling the people that this is the Eleventh Hour, now you must go back and tell the people that this is the Hour. And there are things to be considered . . .

Where are you living?

What are you doing?

What are your relationships?

Are you in right relation?

Where is your water?

Know your garden.

It is time to speak your Truth.

Create your community.

Be good to each other.

And do not look outside yourself for the leader.”

Then he clasped his hands together, smiled, and said, “This could be a good time!”

“There is a river flowing now very fast. It is so great and swift that there are those who will be afraid. They will try to hold on to the shore. They will feel they are torn apart and will suffer greatly.

“Know the river has its destination. The elders say we must let go of the shore, push off into the middle of the river, keep our eyes open, and our heads above water. And I say, see who is in there with you and celebrate. At this time in history, we are to take nothing personally, Least of all ourselves. For the moment that we do, our spiritual growth and journey comes to a halt.

“The time for the lone wolf is over. Gather yourselves! Banish the word struggle from you attitude and your vocabulary. All that we do now must be done in a sacred manner and in celebration.

“We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.”

If all this seems a little optimistic, perhaps a little naive, consider the details released in an article in AP on October 22 under the heading, “Stat Show a Peaceful World.” Historically, we’ve never had it this peaceful. That’s the thesis of three new books, including one by prominent Harvard psychologist Steven Pinker. Statistics reveal dramatic reductions in war deaths, family violence, racism, rape, murder and all sorts of mayhem.

In his book, Pinker writes: “The decline of violence may be the most significant and least appreciated development in the history of our species.”

And it runs counter to what the mass media is reporting and essentially what we feel in our guts.

— The number of people killed in battle — calculated per 100,000 population — has dropped by 1,000-fold over the centuries as civilizations evolved. Before there were organized countries, battles killed on average more than 500 out of every 100,000 people. In 19th century France, it was 70. In the 20th century with two world wars and a few genocides, it was 60. Now battlefield deaths are down to three-tenths of a person per 100,000.

— The rate of genocide deaths per world population was 1,400 times higher in 1942 than in 2008.

— There were fewer than 20 democracies in 1946. Now there are close to 100. Meanwhile, the number of authoritarian countries has dropped from a high of almost 90 in 1976 to about 25 now.

We’re getting there and NOW is the time!
