RAPE IS NO JOKE- SHUT DOWN DANIEL TOSH- BANNER DROP
On the night of May 26th we dropped two banners calling out Daniel Tosh for being a misogynist, and Dalhousie for hosting him. The former banner read “RAPE IS NO JOKE- shut down Daniel Tosh” and was dropped on a billboard on Gottingen St, while the latter read “DAL still welcomes misogyny- STOP TOSH” and went off the roof of the Rebecca Cohn, where Tosh is booked to preform June 11th and 12th.
Both banners focused on Tosh’s misogyny, but it is important to also note that some of Tosh’s “comedy” is also disgustingly transphobic.
We did this as a small gesture of our disgust with Tosh and the Dal administration- who, despite all their rhetoric, continue to welcome misogyny on campus- and also to express our opposition to the broader culture of patriarchy, misogyny and transphobia that they represent and perpetuate. But along with our rage and disgust, we did this to show our solidarity with and love for all women and trans folks resisting patriarchy everywhere.
Be strong, be proud. We are winning.
