More than 200 Rally Against Violence in HRM

by Ben Sichel

HALIFAX-DARTMOUTH - Heavy rain and wind didn't stop more than 200 residents of HRM from attending a march against violence this afternoon.

The ambitious march route took participants more than five kilometres, from Sullivan's Pond in Dartmouth, across the MacDonald Bridge, to the South Common in Halifax.

The march was organized  by Quentrel Provo, whose cousin Kaylin Diggs was murdered in downtown Halifax in August. Provo had lamented in the media that politicians had declined his invitation to attend the march.

Following the march at least 100 people stayed in the Halifax Common during the rain and listened to singers and speakers address the issue of violence.
