Dear community members,
The Dalhousie Women’s Centre is pleased to announce that on October 17, 2012, the members of the society who attended the fall general meeting voted unanimously to change the centre’s name to the South House Sexual and Gender Resource Centre.
The result of the vote was the culmination of a lengthy discussion on how best to represent cultural and organizational changes that have been occurring at the centre for several years. We feel that the name change better reflects our gender inclusive policy and our dedication to providing members from Dalhousie and King’s universities, as well as the general public, with quality information and referrals.
As part of the rebranding of the centre, we hope to provide the membership with more accurate and straightforward information about what services the centre can and cannot provide. However, it is important to note that no services currently provided by the Centre will be eliminated.
The name change took effect in the constitution and policy of the centre immediately. Rebranding efforts, including a new logo and website, are slated to be unveiled in early March, to coincide with our 20th anniversary. Until that time, our website and email addresses will remain the same, and bear the old name.
The board and staff of the South House thank your for your support and patience as we transition and rebrand the centre. We look forward to working with the community through this exciting time, and far into the future.
Please feel free to contact Jean Ketterling, the Administrative and Volunteer Coordinator, for more information.
In solidarity,
The Board of Directors and Staff of the South House Gender and Sexuality Resource Centre.
