K'jipuktuk (Halifax) - The Halifax Media Co-op, under the guidance of the Kitpu Youth Program, is pleased to be able to present the Kitpu "Young Journalists" program. The program, which will start within the next few days, will allow for members of the Kitpu Youth Program to work alongside the HMC's largely volunteer staff of editors and reporters in order to develop their journalistic skills.
Made possible with generous funding from the Dalhousie Student Union, the Young Journalists program aims to empower Nova Scotia's next generation of grassroots reporters with the tools they need to catch those unreported stories, and have them told with pairs of fresh eyes.
The Halifax Media Co-op believes that being able to provide the leaders of tomorrow with a platform on which to present their work, as well as a modest compensation for their efforts, directly fulfills not only our own mandate of empowering citizen journalists, but also is in direct fusion with the mission of the Kitpu Youth Program, which is to "provide the youth with skills for personal development and leadership ability and ensure they have the skills necessary to achieve their fullest potential."
Stay tuned to this site for upcoming articles from the Young Journalists program.
