Queer & Rebel Days is a grassroots, DIY, anti-corporate alternative to Pride that provides anti-oppressive and safe spaces to people of all ages, genders, and sexualities. It is a drug- and alcohol-free week of events that focus on education, skill sharing, and community building.

 

Event ScheduleFriday, July 1st

Queers and Nationalism Picnic

Potluck picnic (vegan & gluten-free dishes especially welcome!) and discussion: how can we challenge colonialism in our communities? What does it mean to be queer in Canada today, particularly under the Harper government?

3:00 pm in the Halifax Commons (Meet at the fountain).
Event is outdoors and is wheelchair accessible.

Saturday, July 2nd

Are You Queer Enough? Discussion and Button Making!

Discussion: 11 am- 2:30pm
Button Making: 2:30-4:30 pm

Come for one or both! Bring a lunch and snacks and coffee/tea/water will be provided.

At the North Branch Public Library (2285 Gottingen St.)
Wheelchair accessible.

Go Gay! Dance Party!

Day off. Take a nap, snuggle a kitten, collect your thoughts, & get pumped for the rest of the week.

Political Letter Writing

5 pm, St. Matthew’s United Church (1479 Barrington Street).

Thursday, July 7th

Wheel Good Time

5 – 6pm: Bike Maintenance Workshop

6 – 7pm: Bike Repair Time

7:30pm: Meet us outside for a Bike Ride (bring scooters, roller blades, or anything else with wheels!)

Bike Again is in the Bloomfield Centre (2786 Agricola St.)

It is located at the bottom of a flight of stairs and is not a physically accessible space.

Friday, July 8th

Variety Show

An open mic night to share your talents & your voice. Bring music, dance, slam poetry, puppet shows, dramatic monologues, and whatever else you can think of!

Evening – exact time and location TBA.

Saturday, July 9th

Debaucherous Soccer

Little-to-no-rules silly soccer! Wear your shiniest spandex, your flowiest cape, or whatever you please. Bring your rhyming skills for team chants, your dance moves and your soccer skills. Boombox jams on the sidelines.
Spectators very welcome!
(Inspired by the fabulous women and queer folks who’ve been playing debaucherous soccer in Toronto for seven years!)

Located in the Halifax Commons (Meet at the fountain).
