On June 21, the National Aboriginal Day of Action, at 11:00am members of the Canadian Federation of Students will present a letter to Halifax MP Megan Leslie’s community office (1-2207 Gottingen Street) for delivery to the Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs, Chuck Strahl calling on the Harper government to extend stable and permanent funding to First Nations University of Canada.

In February, the federal and Saskatchewan governments cut funding to the University, the only First Nations university in the country, following internal difficulties. Despite an institutional restructuring and the decision by the provincial government to restore funding, the federal government has refused to commit to funding beyond March 2010.
