Provincial Day of Action: Keep the Heart in Home Care!
Dish Towel demos
12:00pm
- 1:00pm
Mercredi Mai 6 2015
We're hosting a province wide day of action. Instead of a central rally, we're targeting 9 MLA's around the province and calling on them to keep the heart in home care.
Keep the heart in home care:
The Liberals have announced plans to open home care services to competitive bidding.
Ontario experimented with competitive bidding in home care and the results were disastrous. Patients received less care and worse quality care. It also led to a severe shortage of home nurses and support workers.
Home care should be about compassion and care, not profit. By trying to sell off home care to private companies, Health Minister Glavine is putting seniors at risk. We should move to improve and fully include home care as part of public health care. Not only would it cost less, but it would provide better care to our parents and grandparents.
Health Minister Leo Glavine has said that he doesn't believe "home care workers should make $18 an hour to wash dishes." We're shocked our Health Minister can be so ignorant of the care that home care workers provide and that our seniors depend on. So we're going to clear up his misconception - Bring your dish towel and help us clean up the Liberals' mess!
Join us and tell your local MLA to "Protect care & caregivers!"
