The young artists of Centerlines Studios have created a mixed genre performance inspired by the life and legacy of Viola Desmond. The project will showcase talented youth from diverse communities across the HRM and will feature Halifax Poet Laureate El Jones among other mentoring artists.
Supported by the MacPhee Centre for Creative Learning, this collaborative project pieces together music, spoken word, monologues and theatrical vignettes to look back at Viola’s courageous life and examine how far life has, and has not, changed since then for black communities in Halifax.
