Nova Scotians Rally Against the Conservative’s Unfair Election Act
HALIFAX – Nova Scotians will be rallying against the Conservative’s Unfair Elections Act, Bill C-23, this Saturday at 1pm in front of the Cunard Statue beside the Seaport Farmers Market. They will be joining Canadians across the country, who will be rallying in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, and many more communities against Bill C-23’s attack on our most basic voting rights.

THE FACTS:

−The “Fair Elections Act” eliminates key provisions of our current election system including vouching and voter information cards – which could deprive as many as 520,000 Canadians of their right to vote.

−The Act will also muzzle Elections Canada, cancelling voter education and engagement programs like Student Vote.

−If passed, this act will see US style voter suppression imposed on Canadians and is clearly targeted at youth, students, poor people, seniors, Aboriginal people and other marginalized groups.
