Award-winning journalist and best-selling author Linda McQuaig, who has developed a reputation for challenging the establishment and promoting a more equitable society, will be holding a public lecture at Dalhousie at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 26. She has written for theGlobe and Mail and Maclean’s magazine and has been an op-ed columnist at the Toronto Star since 2002.
She is also the author of nine books on politics and economics, including The Trouble With Billionaires, co-authored with Neil Brooks. Her lecture at Dalhousie, entitled Profit U: Who controls our universities…and why you should care, will deal with the growing dependence of Canada’s cash-strapped universities on corporate funding and how that is affecting academic freedom and the quality of education. The lecture is part of the Dalhousie Faculty Association’s Issues in Higher Education discussion series.
