Halifax Labour and Our Times Magazine bring you a sing-along event with your progressive friends and neighbours.
We all remember Pete Seeger and many of us remember him for what he stood for. . . human rights, justice, the struggles of ordinary working folk. He sang about it, and he worked at making the world a better place from the peace movement, to McCarthyism, to Occupy and beyond.
So we want to invite you and/or your organization to participate with us in this afternoon of raising our voices for justice and human rights. We will have tables for literature and you can say a few words about your campaign or issue as an introduction to a song! This is not an open mic but is not meant to be an afternoon of professional performances either -- we just want to include you! Songs do not have to be written by or performed by Pete Seeger but should be about the themes of working people and rights and justice.
To participate please contact unionmaidns@gmail.com and let us know who you want to lead the song or intro the song and what the song is. . . ('cause we do not want to sing "If I had a Hammer" six times!)
