“Beyond the Veil of the Sorrow Songs: a Du Boisian Perspective in Word, Art, Dance and Song” with Quanda Johnson

Using song, prose and spoken word art, Quanda Johnson introduces the audience to the construct and theory behind her Fulbright research, chronicling the journey of slaves escaping from the US to the Maritime and Quebec via the Underground Railroad.  Ms. Johnson's research will be synthesized into a multi-media theatrical "event" concert entitledBeyond the Veil of the Sorrow Songs to be presented in May of 2014. 

Quanda Johnson is a Fulbright independent research affiliated with Dalhousie Theatre and Music as well as NSCAD Media Arts and holds a Master of Fine Arts in Acting from New York University (NYC) and a Master of Music from the Conservatory of Music at Brooklyn College. A Philadelphia native residing in New York City, she has performed on and off Broadway, in regional theatre, and in national as well as international tours. She is the founder and artistic director of The Quest Factor, a think-tank/production company examining the lives, circumstances and events of the African Diaspora through innovative multidisciplinary concerts.
