Law students invite colleagues and community members to reflect, connect, and engage with Aboriginal rights

K'JIPUKTUK (HALIFAX) -- On January 24th and 25th, the Social Activist Law Students’ Association of Dalhousie’s Schulich School of Law is hosting the 5th biennial IDEALaw Conference. The purpose of the conference is to engage with members of the community on issues at the forefront of social concern. This year’s theme is entitled “Aboriginal Rights – Reflect, Connect, Engage” and will include discussions on residential schools, Aboriginal sentencing, murdered and missing indigenous women, and the role of women in indigenous leadership. Guest speakers include Sheila Watt-Cloutier, Linda McQuaig, Judge Anne Derrick, Naiomi Metallic, and Kent Roach among others.

IDEALaw is open to the public and will be hosted at the Weldon Law Building at 6061 University Avenue in Halifax, NS. The two-day event opens on Friday, January 24 at 4pm and ends on Saturday, January 25 at 5pm. A $5 registration fee and additional donations will be collected at the door. No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
