More information
In these critical times, we need new forms of leadership and a new generation of change agents who have a genuine appreciation for the inner and outer dimensions of healthy, sustainable transformation. People in the 21st century need to develop unprecedented levels of intercultural cooperation, mutual moral concern, creativity, and skill in effectively addressing the challenges of the world today. An education that focuses on cognitive skills development and knowledge accumulation to develop compassionate world citizens in such a context is too limited. Other aspects of human intelligence need to be addressed, including the skills and qualities of awareness associated with social and emotional regulation, ethical responsibility, and empathy for others.
This course is based on integral models of education and is highly experiential and practical. Participants will explore the relevance of essential insights from educational theory and practice, transpersonal psychology and the wisdom of contemplative traditions concerning the nature of mind in their own lives. Through a unique mind-mapping exercise, participants will see the deep commonalities of human experience. Carried forward into life, these guided cognitive and reflective technologies, can begin to improve attention, emotional regulation and transform automatic responses to the world from a reactive mode to a more reflective mode. This positions us optimally to meet the extraordinary political, social, and spiritual challenges of our time.
