Women's Equality and Social Justice

Election Town Hall

7:00pm
- 9:00pm
Jeudi Septembre 19 2013

Venue: McNally Auditorium, St. Mary's University

Nova Scotians have a decision to make on October 8. They first have to decide to vote, something that is not at all a given in our province. The second decision is how to vote, which candidate, and which party should for whom they mark an X.

In order to make an informed decision when they go to mark their ballot, Nova Scotians need to understand where the parties stand on the issues that matter to them.

The issues raised during this townhall matter to all Nova Scotians.

  • Equality
  • Social and Economic Justice
  • Universal Health Care
  • Newcomer Retention
  • Fair treatment of Temporary Foreign Workers
  • Quality public services that help level the playing field.
  • Tax Fairness that helps pay for quality public services

A candidate representative from the Liberal, New Democratic Party and Progressive Conservative parties will be answering questions.

We, the undersigned, invite you to this important forum.

  • Women's Action Alliance for Change NS (WACNS)
  • Cdn Centre for Policy Alternatives-NS
  • Community Advocates Network
  • Community Society to End Poverty-NS
  • Congress of Black Women-NS Chapter
  • Immigrant Settlement and Integration Services
  • Faces of Poverty
  • Nova Scotians for Tax Fairness
  • NS Citizen's Health Care Network
  • Nancy's Chair in Women's Studies
  • NS Rainbow Action Project

At this forum, we encourage all attendees to take the opportunity to video-record your message to the parties, or your fellow voters. What questions should the parties and candidates answer? What issue do you want to be a priority for the new government?  These messages will be uploaded to a youtube channel.
