Pedal for the Planet Events

4:30pm
Jeudi Juillet 30 2009

Hi folks. Here’s some news about upcoming Pedal for the Planet activities in the Halifax area. Pedal for the Planet, sponsored by KYOTOplus of which Oxfam is a member, is a national bike relay organized to raise awareness about climate change and the need for strong federal action in Copenhagen this December. The ride launched on July 3rd from Victoria and St. John's and both legs will cycle through towns and cities educating citizens about climate change and the KYOTOplus petition. Both legs of the Pedal will converge on Parliament hill towards the end of September to deliver the petition. (For more information on Pedal for the Planet, check out www.kyotoplus.ca/pedal.)

There are two events coming up in Halifax that we would like you to support, by both attending and/or circulating this information to your friends and networks:

1. 12 noon, Grand Parade (in front of City Hall), Friday, July 24

This is the assembling and departure time for the Halifax to Liverpool leg of the Pedal for the Planet relay in Nova Scotia – July 24: Halifax to Hubbards; July 25: Hubbards to Riverport; July 26: Riverport to Liverpool. Not only do we encourage you and others to come out to give the cyclists a warm (non-rainy, we hope!) send-off, but please consider joining the relay on your own bike (I’m doing it as far as Hubbards – about 50 kms.; if an old geezer like myself can do it, surely others can too!).

2. 4:30 PM, Victoria Park (across Spring Garden Rd. from the Public Gardens), Thursday, July 30

This event in Victoria Park is to welcome the riders that will have just arrived in Halifax from Windsor, and to engage Haligonians in a discussion about Copenhagen. We hope to have cycling/arts activities for kids as well as local speakers. At 9pm-ish we will be having an event at Bearly's with several local bands and speakers. There may also be some speaking at the Mellotones show at the seahorse the same night.

So spread the word and please consider joining us for some fun activities with a timely message about climate change! And please call or e-mail me if you want to find out more, including how you can join the final leg of the bike ride from Windsor to Halifax on July 30th.

According to my analysis, millions of people all over the world get the mortgage loans at good creditors. Thus, there's a good possibility to find a consolidation loan in all countries.
