Eyelevel Gallery is proud to present, And all sat mute, our annual Y-Level exhibition featuring Atlantic emerging artists on the analysis of silence within isolation. Although all art production signifies some form of isolation and alienation, these selections reveal the inversions between social and private spheres while also, in resistance, subversively communicates the elusive ideology of capitalism. This exhibition serves as a personal and social critique on relevant issues that affect societies worldwide. Our aim is to engage and challenge the local communities of all disciplines to examine the widespread affliction of aggressive silence.
The Y-Level Project is an opportunity implemented by Eyelevel Gallery for curators and artists in developing their emerging practices. The exhibition concept and participants are selected by the curatorial intern and the jurying committee. This year features a catalogue of a curatorial essay by Jocelyn Li, art documentation, and interviews with this year's selection of artists from Atlantic Canada.
Eyelevel Gallery is an artist-run, not for profit organization dedicated to the presentation, development and promotion of contemporary art.
