Women’s HIV Prevention Workshop

Safer Space - A harm reduction approach to HIV prevention among women

Presented by The AIDS Coalition of Nova Scotia

Women represent an increasing proportion of persons living with HIV throughout Canada.
Areas touched on in this workshop will include:
• a basic overview of what HIV is and how it is transmitted
• the biological, social & cultural factors that contribute to women’s risk of infection.
• the principles of harm reduction as they can be applied within the women’s community to promote safer sex practices and HIV prevention

For Whom : The workshop is for
• healthcare, social service, and community workers who work with women
• students in any of these disciplines will also be welcomed if sufficient room is available
• women seeking to learn more about HIV prevention are also encouraged to attend

The Presenters : Michelle Evans, BSW, is the Program Coordinator with the AIDS Coalition of Nova Scotia and has experience working in the areas of women’s issues, support and advocacy, and program development.
