Imperialist wars are always launched amid massive disinformation campaigns which aim at paralyzing even the activists through a deluge of confused and distorted information. The current campaigns of the U.S. Empire against Syria and Iran are a prime example of this. Almost in lock step with the imperial campaign, certain media on the left proclaim that what is happening in Syria is a revolution, and that the left must support that revolution in spite of the fact that armed groups backed by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey and the United States empire itself seem to be playing the leading role in this 'revolution.'

Regardless of the merit of the Assad regime, or its lack of merit, can we call such an opposition revolutionary? As part of a scheme to launch an attack against Iran at the risk of enflaming a much larger war, does it make sense that we should believe that there is a “people's revolution” somewhere in there that all progressives must support? Clearly if such a revolution exists, it could only succeed if the forces of the U.S., Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the like are soundly defeated.

All who oppose war as a means of advancing the international policy of countries, and all who believe in the rule of international law as a means of preserving the peace should let their voices be heard. Do not be fooled by the disinformation. Do what ever you can to oppose this unjust, aggressive drive to war. Join our weekly pickets to strengthen the anti-war movement.
