International Day of the Girl Child Soldiers In Partnership with the Child Soldiers Initiative

7:00-9:00pm Reception and photo exhibit with cake at 6:00 p.m. Movie screening at 7:00 p.m. Discussion Panel at 8:15 p.m.

Free admission, everyone welcome!

To commemorate the first ever International Day of the Girl (IDG), we invite you to attend a film screening of Grace, Milly, Lucy...Child Soldiers, followed by a discussion panel to discuss girl child soldiers, the impact of armed conflict on girls, and their journey of survival and resilience. Created by the National Film Board of Canada in 2010, Grace, Milly, Lucy...Child Soldiers will introduce viewers to the little-known reality of more than 30,000 Ugandan children who have been abducted by repel troops and forced into armed conflict. Many of these child soldiers are girls.  Combining personal accounts and scenes from daily life, this documentary conjures up the stifled echoes of a painful past and dares to believe that a better future is within reach for these women who are united in a common struggle.
