Do you care about fundamental human rights?
Do you care about preserving Canada's public healthcare system?
Do you want to live in a community where all have access to the health care they need?
Then join health care workers and other refugee rights advocates from Vancouver, Calgary, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Toronto, Hamilton, Ottawa, Montreal, St. John’s, and Halifax in solidarity against cuts to the Interim Federal Health Program.
In April 2012, the federal government announced drastic cuts to the Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP) – a Citizenship and Immigration Canada funded program that provides health coverage to refugees, refugee claimants, and others. The reductions are slated to come into effect on June 30th, 2012, and in response organizations across the country are sounding the alarm.
Let us remind ourselves of Gandhi’s famous words: the true measure of any society can be found in how it treats its most vulnerable members.
The cuts to the IFHP are part of the erosion of our public health care system. It starts with the most vulnerable.
Stand up for healthy communities and join health care workers and others on June 18th at noon at Grand Parade Square to denounce cuts that are discriminatory, inhumane, and an attack on Canada’s healthcare system! Be part of telling our federal government that these cuts are unacceptable!
