The MISSION STATEMENT of Street Feat is:
To provide a voice for the poor and needy; to educate and develop a critical conscience; to develop a community based solution to poverty and to generate income for those in need.
Street Feat is a monthly paper sold by the homeless, unemployed and supporters of the poor throughout Halifax Regional Municipality. The paper is not a charity; it is a social and economic enterprise which generates income from sales and advertising, as well as other projects such as fundraising.
Vendors buy the paper for $.75 and sell it for $1.50, which they keep as income.
We focus on issues of poverty. Since 1997, our street newspaper has been "The Voice of the Poor" in metro. Help us help the poor who are gainfully employed in the work of selling our newspaper each time an issue comes out.
We are hosting a fundraiser for Street Feat on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at The Company House to raise much needed monies so we can continue our mission and help less fortunate people in the HRM area. The event will take place from 8:00PM till 11:00PM and will feature a variety of local musicians entertaining the crowds we expect to see come out to support our cause.
You always want to know how you can help... well, now you can. We are selling tickets to the evening for a donation of $10 minimum or any amount you wish to donate, plus you can pay at the door. During the proceedings we will pass the hat to collect donations as well as a live auction of donated items.
If you think our enterprise is the kind you like seeing succeed, will you consider making a donation of auction items or money to help us make this event a success and carry on with our mission.
