Occupy Nova Scotia on the Outside Looking in at Provincial Legislature

by Miles Howe

Outside the Gate Please.

Yesterday, on their street march leading from Victoria Park, some members of Occupy Nova Scotia, walking in support of Indigenous Solidarity Day, made a brief stop at the Provincial Legislature. There they attempted to gain an audience with the leaders of provincial government, in order to air their grievances, and request that members of Nova Scotia's parliament sign a letter of protest meant to condemn the Federal government's dealings with the Attawapiskat First Nation.

Unfortunately, they and their mission of solidarity made it no farther than a few steps onto the premise before uniformed individuals requested that they immediately leave. The Commissionaires on duty had mistaken the Mig'maw flag as a symbol of protest, and apparently there is a colonial-esque, archaic, law that has determined that the front lawn of the legislature is a sanctified, hallowed, ground, where protest is simply not allowed to occur. The rabble are not to voice their displeasure on the lawn. Let them do that from behind the gate.

Commissionaires were unwilling to engage in conversation, and proceeded to get into a tug of war with an Occupy Nova Scotia banner. All involved were then ungracefully shoved out the wrought iron gates, which were promptly locked. Police officers, one of whom was identified as having punched a young woman in the face in the eviction of November 11th, promptly arrived to drive the expulsion home.

As for the pondering of a certain city councillor, who first suggested that Occupy Nova Scotia was unwilling to dare enter the sacred grounds of the Provincial Legislature, due to perceived union “handcuffery”, perhaps this action might finally sweep such whisperings to the dustbin of half-baked, self-serving, conspiracy theories. Indeed, a certain city councillor was quick to backpedal on earlier accusations, and now seems eager to call “shame on you” at Legislature. Where were such calls for council? In any case, outside the gate, please.

Free Speech At Parasitical NS Guv

I'm here having a vision of what that statue outside the 'Nova Scotialism leg-is-layer' of Joe Howe would look like with a rope around its neck, being pulled over like Saddam's was.  Somehow, I think ol' Joe would be proud of those who would commit to rectifying what he stood for by such an act.  Perhaps he'd applaud Edinburgh's decision to support Occupy ...

Not surprisingly, the statue on the other side of the bldg. is an old soldier, gun raised high.  That's their common, unimaginative, obsolete and subhuman modus operandi.  I think all wars should be fought by old soldiers like that, and they should put politicians and their minions on the front lines.  That violent cop oughta' be the first in line.

Walking by there the other day I could see a chef in one of the open windows.  I was truly appalled that this goes on there.   Such a parasitical, value destrying lot of cro-magnons.  Not only do they destroy the legacy of peeps like Joe Howe, they get their own chef while they are doing so.

Local, honest business people who are truly competent to create and produce values struggle against the 1% who buy and sell these anti-viva maleophile politicians are the real heroes; they must get up every day and go to their responsibilities, as well as create employment for others against all odds, while these criminal jesters who can't even run their own photocopiers, let alone be responsible for their own food while at work like all productive people have to, default to use of initiatory force, threat, fraud and collusion usurp what they could never earn.

They are done!  Politicians are nothing.  We are the 99% and we're too big to fail!!  Someone open the windows in that parasite's stone 'good ol' boys coven.'   All their career-long inflatulatory stool sitting is causing me to wanna' vomit,  bacccchhh!

Unfortunate that we have come

Unfortunate that we have come to a place when the people have no right to an audience to present their grievances to those we have elected, on public property yet. I suppose our rights end with the vote, do they? Getting police and private police to eject the people from their own house is the epitome of anti-democracy.

I think those legislators who are sitting prettily in the house ignoring what is going on around them had better wake up and see just how disgusted with their behaviour we are. I don't know anyone who has a good word to say about government these days, and with that many curses on their heads, you would think they would be starting to feel uneasy and take notice that a change is in the air.

Joe Howe would be reeling at the present definition of "responsible" government. I'm quite sure the word is meaningless to our legislators.
