Anti-frack action takes to the Irving gas station in Halifax
Activists show solidarity with New Brunswickers, ask that political candidates address fracking

K'jipuktuk (HALIFAX) - Yesterday, September 16th, a small group of activists set up a picket outside of an Irving gas station in Halifax, at the busy intersection of Robie and Charles streets.
Theirs was an anti-fracking message of solidarity with the continuing struggle in Kent County, New Brunswick, against American gas giant subsidiary SWN Resources Canada.
The action was also meant to highlight the silence on the part of all three of Nova Scotia's major political parties on the issue of hydraulic fracturing during this election campaign period. So far, political campaigns have focused on the important issues of jobs, health care, student loans and power bills, and the future of hydraulic fracturing in the province does not appear to be something any of the candidates wants to touch upon.
