Following the string of demonstrations protesting the G8 development ministers meeting in Halifax in April, tens of thousands are expected on the streets of Toronto at the end of June, protesting the gathering of the G8/G20 heads of state.

Find out on June 3, when the Halifax Media Co-op launches the Dominion’s special issue on the G8/G20. The event will include a panel of speakers, snacks, hot-off-the-press copies of the Dominion, and a lively discussion
Come out and learn more about local impacts of G8/G20 policies and how local organizers are working to resist the world view that heads of state will be promoting in Ontario in June.

The panel will include the following speakers:
Angela Giles is the Atlantic Regional Organizer for the Council of Canadians, a member-based social justice organization committed to promoting progressive policies on water, energy, trade and health care.
Cole Webber grew up in Chester Basin, NS. He now lives and works in Halifax. Over the past six years he has participated in local anti-poverty and anti-globalisation activism.
April Wise-Gillap and Mary Burnet are members of the Feminist League for Agitation and Propaganda (FLAP), a group that formed around organizing a feminist resistance to the G8 meeting in Halifax.
Fiona Traynor works with Dalhousie Legal Aid and is a member of the Common Front for Housing in Nova Scotia, a group that is mounting political pressure to fight for affordable housing in the province.
Hillary Lindsay is coordinator and editor with the Halifax Media Co-op and Dominion Newspaper. She’s been working with the Dominion/Media Co-op since it began in 2003.
