The announcement by U.S. President Obama that the United States government is taking steps toward the normalization of relations with Cuba. These events vindicated the resilience of the Cuban Revolution and the determination of the international movement to win the freedom of the Five Cuban Heroes and to end the more than fifty years of U.S. hostility to the Cuban Revolution.
