It may sound like an oxymoron, but freelancer unions are real. And, dare we say, necessary. 

The Halifax Media Co-op invites you to a Q&A with reps from two of Canada's major freelancers unions:
Canadian Freelancers Union - and - 
Canadian Media Guild Freelance Branch

If you are a freelance journalist, writer, graphic designer, photographer, illustrator, editor, filmmaker – or any other type of freelance media worker – then this is your chance to find out about how freelancer unions work, and whether joining is the right thing for you.
