Students Against Israeli Apartheid to march on American consulate

Venue: From Victoria Park to the American Consulate (1969 Upper Water St)
K’JIPUKTUK (HALIFAX) – Students Against Israeli Apartheid (SAIA), a group at Dalhousie University, has called for a public demonstration, to rally at 3:30 pm, Tuesday July 29th, at Victoria Park. At approximately 4pm, they will march on the US consulate in condemnation of American support for ongoing Israeli war crimes in Gaza. In particular, this comes in response to the US’ lone vote in the UN Human Rights Council, on Wednesday, July 23rd, against a UN investigation in Palestine.
WHO: Students Against Israeli Apartheid, a Dalhousie University-based student organization
WHAT: A rally and march opposing Israel’s belligerence in Gaza and American complicity.

WHEN: 3:30pm, Tuesday, July 29th
SPEAKERS WILL INCLUDE:
Dr. Jamal Badawi is the founder of the Islamic Information Foundation, and former St. Mary’s University Professor.
Jeff Callaghan is the regional National Director of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers. He is active in a variety of social justice struggles.
And others! Including members of SAIA, and Dalhousie Faculty.
Students Against Israeli Apartheid was formed at Dalhousie in 2014. They have organized campus educational events, a public commemoration of Al Nakba, a 300-strong demonstration against the current massacres being committed in Gaza, and more. Several of these events have been in collaboration with Independent Jewish Voices and Canadians, Arabs, and Jews for a Just Peace. They are currently in the process of applying to become a working group of the Nova Scotia Public Interest Research Group.
