Amnesty International Halifax is hosting an open house to mark the launch of our Stop Torture campaign, followed by an evening training session.
12pm: Word of welcome from local members, Amnesty Canada's Director of Campaigns and Activism Alain Roy and Regional Development Coordinator Kim Irving Cahill
12:30pm: Launch of Amnesty International “Stop Torture” Campaign. This event will be one of a series of rolling launches across more than 30 countries.
1:00 - 4:30pm: Amnesty members & local activists mingle & share their experiences of human rights protection & promotion & discuss current activities
4:30 - 6:00pm: Spotlight on the rights of Indigenous Peoples. An opportunity to discuss the struggle to end violence against Indigenous women & to protect the land rights of Indigenous Peoples
7:00 - 9:00pm: Information and planning session on Amnesty’s current campaigns (space is limited for this session and prior RSVP is required)
