The role of physical activity in healthy aging

7:00pm
- 9:00pm
Tuesday April 1 2014

Venue: Spring Garden Memorial Public Library
Address: 5381 spring garden rd

Have you ever wondered why physical activity is an important part of healthy aging?

Want to know more about physical activity opportunities in the Halifax Regional Municipality? Do you have any suggestions on how we can have a more active, healthier community?

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) in partnership with Dalhousie University and Halifax Public Libraries, wants to invite you to a discussion about the role of physical activity in healthy aging in a CafĂ© Scientifique format. There will be a brief presentation by local experts in the area from Dalhousie and the community, followed by small group discussions on physical activity and healthy aging. Information from these discussions will be used to prepare a discussion paper on physical activity and healthy aging. This paper will help researchers, service providers, and policy makers better understand the role that physical activity plays in healthy aging.

What: Group discussion on physical activity and healthy aging

Who: Older adults, program planners, researchers, politicians, interested community members – everyone is welcome!

When: April 1, 7:00pm

Where: Spring Garden Road Memorial Public Library, 5381 Spring Garden Road, Halifax, NS

Come join in a community discussion about why physical activity is important, ways to be more active, and challenges to physical activity that our aging community faces!
