All are invited to attend a special screening of the poignant documentary Road to Ortona on Wednesday, October 14, at Pier 21 in commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the Italian Campaign.

During WWII, flanked by British and Americans, Canadian soldiers pushed into Italy including the 15th century town, Ortona. Road to Ortona looks at one of the fiercest battles, and explores Canada’s contribution to the liberation of Italy. Kirrily Freemen, assistant professor of history at SMU, will lead a discussion following the screening.

Show begins with special film vignettes, Heroes Remember, supported by Veterans Affairs Canada.

Diversity Spotlight is presented by Pier 21 in partnership with Veterans Affairs Canada and the National Film Board of Canada.
Admission is FREE. Show begins at 7:00 p.m. at Pier 21, 1055 Marginal Road, Halifax. For more information please call 902-425-7770 or visit www.pier21.ca.

Pier 21’s Diversity Spotlight encourages cultural groups to screen films at Pier 21 each month that tell their story, while exploring the themes of immigration, diversity, cultural heritage and identity.
