International Day for the Eradication of Poverty

The marking of the day will begin with a gathering at Metro Non-Profit Housing Assoc. drop-in centre ‘the coffee shop’ at 2330 Gottingen at 11:30 am.  After some speeches we will begin the march southwards along Gottingen to Cornwallis, then across the street and back northward to the North Memorial Library.  We will then procede around the corner past the Y, down Prince William Street to the former St. Pats Alexandra school.  From there we will procede to Brunswick St United Church, 2107 Brunswick for the main rally. There will be speakers as well as spoken word at several points along the route of the march.

The rally at Brunswick St United Church will begin at 1:30 and will include food, music, a first-voice panel and an open mic.  We expect that the event will wrap up at approx. 3:45pm.

The event is open to all and will be family friendly.  Those not wanting to participate in the march may go directly to the church anytime after 1 pm.
