Collective Presentation by Mi'kmaq Artists, Craftspeople, Performers and Vendors

10:00am
- 5:00pm
Saturday June 22 2013

Venue: Halifax Waterfront, Nathan Green Park, at the bottom of Sackville street

This is a collective presentation by individual Mi'kmaq Artists, Craftspeople, Performers and vendors, to bring focus to the many talents and skills of the Mi'kmaq people. The event will be free and open to the public. Vendors will be responsible for their own contribution and sales. Performers may accept donations in appreciation. This show will grow through collective organization, and individual contribution.

This is a call to all Mi'kmaq who may contribute as vendors, and all indigenous who may contribute as performers. There will be NO cost for participation or vending. The Treaty of 1752 supports the right for Mi'kmaw to vend freely within Halifax. You do NOT need a "status" card or number. For Mi'kmaw this is a collective exercise of our treaty right.

Mi'kmaq may vend at any time, the hours are not a limitation but a time to gather, to represent a variety and concentration of work. The show will be promoted for this time and location, the city will be notified of our respectful intentions, and I will update you on any relevant information here. Please feel free to get involved, share ideas, share your own poster, and post a samples of your work if you are planning to participate.

The idea to put a call out and try to get something organized came from recognizing a lack for any visible planned event in Halifax on National Aboriginal Day, or the following weekend. Please join us!
