Beyond the Logo

Organizational branding for non-profits and community organizations

9:30am
- 4:00pm
Friday February 22 2013

Venue: The Hub
Address: 1673 Barrington Street, 2nd floor
Cost: $125

A one-day workshop for non-profit and community group staff, board members and volunteers…with a focus on low-budget, big impact solutions.

All organizations have a brand that they have to manage & promote… perhaps refine, maybe even repair.

Branding is about much more than logos and taglines (although those are important). It’s about an organization’s identity, about earning the ‘reputation’ an organization needs in order to fulfill its mission.

This one-day, interactive workshop will explore:

Why an organization needs to brand, and the difference between brand strength and brand awareness
Why branding is more than a logo – learning about your brand’s genetic code
Earning & maintaining an organizational reputation
Brand in times of crisis
Why all staff & volunteers are brand managers
Using stories to tell your brand
Low-cost branding ideas

Participants will leave the workshop with knowledge of the fundamentals of organizational branding, practical ideas for managing your brand, and some new tips for promoting your identity. This professional development opportunity will be interactive and enjoyable – participants will have the chance to discuss their organizations, and get ideas on branding solutions.

Who is it for? Those responsible for managing an organization's brand, but just as important, those who aren't. Professional development communications workshops like this can cost many hundreds of dollars. This ‘primer’ workshop is geared for the non-profit sector, and offered at a low-cost of $125, which includes handouts.

The workshop is led by Sean Kelly, Head of Communications for Cuso International, one of Canada`s largest international development organizations. He is responsible for communications strategy, social networking, media outreach, and organizational branding. He recently led a re-branding process for the Canadian non-profit.

Sean offers 20 years of experience in communications, writing, story editing, film & radio production, public engagement and social marketing. He has taken professional development training in organizational branding, crisis communications, low-cost marketing, strategic communications and social marketing.

COST: $125 per participant. Fee includes handouts, tea, coffee and juice (lunch is not provided, but there are many restaurants nearby). No HST is charged.

Spaces are limited.

To reserve your spot in this workshop, please email skism@eastlink.ca with the name(s) of participants along with the name of the organization the invoice should be made out to. Workshop details and the invoice will be email promptly. You can also call 850-2510 for more information.
