Stepping Stone - Community Education Session
Friday, June 26th, 2009, 9 - 4pm
Private Dining Room, Loyola Building, Saint Mary's University
Stepping Stone is pleased to invite a representative from your
organization to attend our first ever community education session. As part of our effort to strengthen ties between Stepping Stone and other support organizations within the community, we have scheduled a series of presentations that are designed to improve understanding among partners and allies of sex workers here in Halifax. In addition to presentations by individuals working here in Halifax, we are excited to announce the participation of Eliyanna Kaiser, Executive Director of $pread Magazine.
Through surveys and community feedback, we have been working to
determine the specific needs of organizations and service providers
with regards to information around sex work, sex workers and Stepping Stone. 100 individuals participated in an online survey, and this session will be tailored to meet the specific needs of the community as indicated in the survey responses.
As a result of these efforts we are confidant that this day-long event
will bridge communication gaps and improve access to services and supports for one of our community's most marginalized populations.
We look forward to engaging with you and strengthening our current
efforts to reduce the violence and stigmatization being inflicted upon
sex workers here in our community.
Registration Fee: $50. for waged, $25. for under-waged and
