On Satuday, February 9th at 8 am. St. Luke’s United Church in Upper Tantallon will hold another in its series of Fellowship Breakfasts open to the public. The theme of the February 9th breakfast will be “Spirituality and Mental Health” with guest speaker David Burke of Capital Health.

David Burke, Licensed Spiritual Care Specialist, has 15 years of experience in the mental health field, working in different mental health and addiction settings including outpatient clinics, general adult inpatient services, mental health day hospitals and community outreach programs. David has long been interested in the mind, body, spirit connection and provides spiritual therapy and counselling to people living with mental illness, curently maintaining a small clinical practice serving seniors living with mental health issues. With degrees in economics, philosophy and theology David Burke brings a thoughtful and analytical approach to the spirituality of mental health.

The Fellowship Breakfasts at St. Luke’s are held three times a year highlighting larger issues of interest to the St. Margaret’s Bay community. All are welcome, there is no cost (though donations are gratefully accepted) and a delicious and hearty breakfast is served at 8:30 am. sharp.

St. Luke’s is no stranger to the mental health field having sponsored several community fourms on the topic, including inviting a Laing House participant to give the Mother’s Day sermon in 2010. “St. Luke’s is a community-minded congregation and we are anxious to explore the healing possibilities and connections between spirituality and mental health, not only within our own church family but also with the larger Bay community. It is what we do best”, said Kevin Little, Minister at St. Luke’s United Church.
