JD Kline Water Treatment Plant And Pockwock Watershed Tour


In conjunction with Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources, Elmsdale Lumber Company, Halifax Water, RPFANS, and CIF-NS, an information workshop and tour will be held at the JD Kline Water Treatment Plant and Pockwock Watershed. The Workshop is aimed at communicating and educating how Halifax Water and the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources jointly manage the Pockwock Watershed with water quality in mind.

The Pockwock Watershed supplies the greater urban core of Halifax, Bedford, Sackville, Fall River, Waverly and Timberlea. Halifax Water is responsible for managing and protecting the Pockwock Watershed and has developed a Source Water Protection Program consistent with the Nova Scotia Drinking Water Strategy. The workshop will be held on June 3rd, 2009 at the JD Kline Water Treatment Plant, 1749 Pockwock Road (off of the Hammonds Plains Road) with a watershed tour to follow. The workshop and tour will begin at 9:00am and finish by 4:30pm; lunch and refreshments will be provided. A $10 registration fee payable up arrival is required along with a hard hat and steel toed boots as operations may be taking place. For those of you interested in obtaining a few good CFE credits; 18 Credit Hours will be allotted for this workshop.
