On Tuesday, December 18th, starting at 5:30pm, an amazing fund raising dinner and silent auction will be taking place at the Mi'kmaq Native Friendship Centre, 2158 Gottingen Street.
Our goal is to raise funds for traditional healers in South Dakota in order to ease their financial burden and to do what we can to assist them in gathering the rocks, wood, foods and medicines they need in order to assist people that are sick and in need of doctoring ceremonies. Traditional healers do not ask for money for the

ir services and they don't work per se for money. They work with people in need, and it is understood that people in need of their help will provide some financial support to them. Unfortunately, it is commonly the case that ailing people are too poor to assist in this endeavour.

Many Indigenous people in South Dakota still live in what we might refer to as “third world” conditions. The work that traditional healers do is beyond life changing; it is often life-saving. But just to gather the wood needed for ceremonies, healers now have to travel long distances in four wheel drive trucks. Yet the healing work must go on in spite of the financial hardships.

Our efforts on December 18th, as a community that includes members who have had their lives saved by these traditional healers, will greatly ease their financial burden, which will benefit all peoples that are in need of their services.

All proceeds from this event will go towards Native Healing Initiatives
Tickets are $25.00 - you may purchase at the Centre or at the door!!
