Setting the table for Hungry Bowls
It’s a fundraiser that warms the belly and the soul.
Hungry Bowls is set for Thursday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. at NSCAD University’s Port Campus, with proceeds to be split once again between Adsum House and Hope Cottage. Over the years, the innovative fundraiser organized by NSCAD University’s Ceramics Department has raised more than $125,000 for charity.*
For $25, patrons will sit down to a simple meal of gourmet soup and artisan bread served in a gorgeous handmade bowl. This year, organizers aim to provide a wider selection of soups, all donated from local restaurants.
There will also be a lot more bowls to choose from. Students in the ceramics department have been holding regular “bowlaramas” since the start of the fall term to throw, fire and decorate bowls for the fundraiser. Additional bowls will be available for sale during the Oct. 25 event.
“I have always loved the idea of giving back to the community that I live in and Hungry Bowls is a perfect way to do so. It brings the community together to raise money for charity with soup made by local restaurants and handmade bowls made by the ceramics students at NSCAD,” says Karolina-Anna Hajna, a fourth-year NSCAD student from Vancouver, B.C. “Art, food, and helping others—it’s a fantastic way to bring a community together.”
Tickets go fast, so please reserve in advance by calling Heather Harris at 902-494-8154. They will also be available (cash only) at the door.
NSCAD University’s Port Campus is located next to the Seaport Farmer’s Market at 1107 Marginal Road, Halifax.
