Venue: Burke Building, Theatre A

An inconvenient truth about water

In recognition of World Water Day on March 23, the Citizen Science project team at Saint Mary’s University has arranged for a free public screening of the award winning documentary “Blue Gold: World Water Wars.”

The 90-minute documentary explores privatization of water systems around the world and looks at some of the steps that have been taken to stop it. The Toronto Star said the film “sounds the same sweeping alarms as Inconvenient Truth, only about our dwindling water supplies.”

The film is based on a book by Maude Barlow and Tony Clarke. Barlow, who spoke at Saint Mary’s in November 2007, is one of Canada’s most outspoken social activists, the national chairperson of the Council of Canadians, and the founder of the Blue Planet Project working internationally for the right to water.

Made possible by the financial support of the Canadian International Development Agency and Saint Mary’s University, the screening will take place in the University's Burke Building, Theatre A, from 7 until 10 p.m.
