I would like to thank all the volunteers involved who turned a potentially awful experience into a lovely one. If you have ever had to be homeless and live on the street in the middle of some of the most dreadful weather Halifax has to offer, then you would know what a blessing this place was.
It was usually a very mellow and calm environment that came from a place of love and kindness. I understand there was a lot of problems getting the shelter off the ground and was turned away from one community to find an impromtu spot that I feel was not perfect, but worked well.
I cannot say how wonderful some of the volunteers there were who gave their time and hearts to all of us who had to stay there. It truly was shelter from the storm.
I hope that this place continues to exist and will get to open earlier next year and have a more viable permanent spot. I also urge everyone to volunteer there if they can, as they can never have enough volunteers.
